Green Roof Team LLC is a virtual company with a mission to provide educational resources on sustainability topics, specifically in the clean energy field. The organization operated on Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s campus from 2019-2022 for designing and installing small wind turbines in connection with their SIU Green Roof. The focus was promoting student involvement on the Green Roof as an interdisciplinary innovation hub for participatory learning. The founding members were trained by Stanford University’s d.school as Agents of Change through Design Thinking principles for improving the student experience. Social Media's Digital Marketing Intern
BASIC FUNCTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Green Roof Team is seeking a highly motivated unpaid intern with a passion for bringing awareness to sustainability for inspiring clean energy educational learning. You will assist the Social Media Manager by creating and scheduled approved content to the current social media campaign, while developing a future social media campaign focused on the company's flagship product using image/reel/story mediums. You must be interested in a bootstrapped startups. You must be a strong communicator, team player, strong work ethic, and accountable to meeting deadlines. This is an unpaid and remote internship, based in Chicago, Illinois, with the expectation that the intern is available to actively set aside 5-10 hours per week, but work on a task basis. The Internship Program features working in a startup environment; Workshops hosted by the company’s Managers on various innovative and fundamental topics ranging from Design Thinking, Project Management, Servant Leadership, etc.; in-house LMS certificate programs; and projects to contribute towards the existing and new products developed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule the weekly social media content being published.
- Creating a social media campaign to increase our target audience's engagement.
- Produce video content to promote current news and education around clean energy.
- Optional: Performing data analysis on current social media platforms.
- Proficiency on digital marketing (Instagram, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok); video editing software (ex. DaVinci Resolve, etc.); TikTok and Instagram Reel promotion
- Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a fluid, sometimes ambiguous, startup environment.
- Willingness to take initiative and do what it takes to meet your own deadlines (the most important).
Podcast's Post-Production Intern
BASIC FUNCTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Green Roof Team is seeking a highly motivated unpaid intern with a passion for bringing awareness to sustainability for inspiring clean energy educational learning. You will assist with the Podcast Manager by having ownership of the post-production and distribution of the Young Entrepreneurs Podcast's weekly episode while creating promotional content to increase engagement on social media. You must be interested in a bootstrapped startups. You must be a strong communicator, team player, strong work ethic, and accountable to meeting deadlines. This is an unpaid and remote internship, based in Chicago, Illinois, with the expectation that the intern is available to actively set aside 5-10 hours per week, but work on a task basis. The Internship Program features working in a startup environment; Workshops hosted by the company’s Managers on various innovative and fundamental topics ranging from Design Thinking, Project Management, Servant Leadership, etc.; in-house LMS certificate programs; and projects to contribute towards the existing and new products developed.

- Optional: Produce video content to promote the company's history or current products.

Small Wind Turbine Blade Composite Materials Research & Design Intern

You will assist with validating and improving the current carbon fiber lamination process for manufacturing small wind turbine blades. You must be interested in a bootstrapped startups. You must be a strong communicator, team player, strong work ethic, and accountable to meeting deadlines. This is an unpaid and remote internship, based in Chicago, Illinois, with the expectation that the intern is available to actively set aside 5-10 hours per week, but work on a task basis. The Internship Program features working in a startup environment; Workshops hosted by the company’s Managers on various innovative and fundamental topics ranging from Design Thinking, Project Management, Servant Leadership, etc.; in-house LMS certificate programs; and projects to contribute towards the existing and new products developed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research literature related to composite materials and wind turbine blades.
- Design an experiment(s) to validate the manufacturing process.
- Review materials and manufacturing process to improve customer satisfaction.
- Providing recommendations on material selection and manufacturing process.
- Optional: Depending on progress on research in the first 4 weeks, receiving the materials to perform the manufacturing experiment, then shipping for lab results.
- Interest with material science and composite laminate
- Proficiency in Engineering Mechanical Manufacturing Processes; Lean Manufacturing; Technical Writing; Google Suite
- Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a fluid, sometimes ambiguous, startup environment.
