Irrigation Project Details

We used the SIU Green Roof as a case study for implementing an irrigation system with machine learning code for optimizing and minimizing human interaction required for optimal plant growth. A variety of moisture sensors were deployed for collecting data for a selected period during the year and included in the algorithm for choosing when water would be delivered to the agriculture plot. Overall, the system reduced water consumption by over 50% while maintaining or improving the quality of plant life.
